Maryland FTC Qualifiers

10DecRobotics4017-cMaryland is planning nine FTC Qualifying Tournaments for the 2017-18 season.  These Qualifiers will range in size to accomadate demand and local team needs. The number of slots at each event to advance to the Maryland FIRST Tech Challenge Championship are announced after registration is completed.  Maryland and DC FTC teams will register for two events; we expect limited space for third plays or out-of-state teams this season.

The Maryland FTC Championship is finalizing its location and will be announced shortly.  Qualifying teams will advance to the East Super-Regional in Scranton, PA, and from there have the opportunity to advance to the FIRST Championships in Detroit.

Registration:
Registration for this season for this season is now open; Register now!

Preference is given to Maryland and DC teams, particularly those that do not yet have an event assignment. Maryland or DC FTC teams that have not yet registered or need to change assignments can contact mkaurich at usra dot edu.  Teams can request a change/drop of event up to two weeks before the event. After that period, it is up to the partner's discression to place the team into another tournament.

Maryland and DC teams are charged a "program fee" instead of an indivudal qualifier fees. With the program fee, teams can sign up for two events. For the 2017-18 season the program fee is $300.  We send invoices and payment instructions directly to team leaders.  There is a $300 registration fee for teams that qualify for the Maryland FTC Championship, invoiced separately. Out of region teams that wish to compete are charged a $200 event fee.

Maryland and DC teams are able to apply for grant support of up to $200 for the program fee from our USRA/Rockwell Collins grant pool. The application is live here until October 7th.

All Maryland FTC events are free and open to the public, and we encourage visitors to come share the excitement.  The best time for viewing is generally in the afternoon between 1:00 - 4:00pm as the teams finish their Qualification Rounds, make their alliance selections and engage in Championship Rounds.  Better yet, please volunteer for an event!  We can use all skill levels and it's a great way to see the teams in action.
